ENDF Shows Drones Acquired by Tigray Forces Allegedly
Ethiopian military today showed drones acquired by Tigray forces allegedly. At Bishoftu Ethiopian military airbase, Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) displayed drones and munitions captured by federal forces from Tigray forces in the ongoing war in northern Ethiopia.
Major General Teshome Gemechu Director-General of International Relations and Military Cooperation and Yilma Merdasa, Ethiopian air chief, briefed foreign diplomats about weaponry seized by Ethiopian military. The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) displayed Turkish-made YIHA-III loitering munitions, an Iranian-made Mohajer-6 UAV and Qaem/GB-20 HE fragmentation precision-guided bombs. allegedly captured from Tigray fighters. Earlier on Tuesday, the Ethiopian military Generals claimed that Tigray regional forces acquired these drones from Sudan which is known operator of Turkish and Iranian drones. Both Ethiopian and Sudanese militaries operate similar Turkish and Iranian drones.
While ENDF is claiming to have captured these costly military grade drones from Tigray forces, on no front in Tigray, Tigray forces were overwhelmed by federal forces in the last three weeks of the war. From most of the towns, Tigray forces withdrew in an organized manner. However Tigray forces did suffer losses as a result of drone strikes by the Ethiopian air force.
Since the start of war last month in northern Ethiopia, Ethiopian military has conducted hundreds of drone strikes on Tigray forces. Tigray forces hardly used drones on battlefronts. They only fired drones at targets in Addis Ababa and Bishoftu.
Questions are being asked about the claims made by the ENDF that Tigray forces acquired Iranian & Turkish drones from Sudan and ENDF seized the drones during ongoing operations. Ethiopian air force has been conducting drone strikes on Tigray for the last two months. But no counter strikes were carried out by Tigray forces, except a few in the last 3 weeks.
