TPLF Denies that Tigray Military Commanders Fled to Eritrea
TPLF has dismissed rumors that Tigray military commanders and politicians have fled Tigray to Eritrea. Tigray Communication Affairs Bureau on Tuesday evening issued a statement in this regard.
“At this time, the enemy is spreading false news to weaken the morale of our people and our army. They are spreading rumors that political and military leaders are fleeing Tigray,” said the Tigray Communication Bureau.
The communication bureau announced war is still ongoing and Tigray forces will defeat the enemy forces in Tigray. War between Tigray regional forces and Ethiopian federal forces broke out last month. Since the start of the war, Tigray forces, despite having the backing of Eritrean military and other Ethiopian armed groups, have been losing ground. Battlefronts have been pushed deep into Tigray.
Despite having suffered territorial losses, Tigray military has refused to concede defeat. Yesterday, Tigray forces launched an ambush attack on an Ethiopian military convoy in central Tigray near Yechila. It seems that Tigray forces are now resorting to guerilla war against federal forces. Tigray regional forces and Ethiopian federal forces earlier fought a two year long deadly war which ended in November 2022. Despite having signed Pretoria Peace Deal, their political and territorial disputes remained unsolved and now they are back to war.
