Satellite Images Confirm Drone Strikes on Eritrean Military

A satellite detected large fire has confirmed intense drone strikes on Eritrean military in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Since the start of war in Ethiopia last month, Ethiopian government has been accusing Eritrean military of crossing into Ethiopia in support of Ethiopian opposition armed alliance.

On Friday, satellites detected a large fire along a military trench line near Adi Awala (አዲዋዋላ), roughly 30km from Badme. The heat signal overlaps earthworks constructed by TPLF forces after 2024, pointing to an intense strike on the position.

Adi Awala is situated close to Shiraro city of Tigray. On Thursday and Friday, Eritrean military convoys were seen in the area. According to residents of Adi Awala and Sheraro, Tigray and Eritrean soldiers are operating jointly in and around Sheraro and they were hit in Friday’s intense airstrikes by the Ethiopian air force.

This week, Ethiopia communicated to the UN Security Council that Eritrea military has crossed into Ethiopian territory and Ethiopia is taking self defense measures. Eritrea countered Ethiopian claim by communicating to the UN that Ethiopia is creating a pretext to invade Eritrea.
